OVERVIEW
The Southern Africa Regional Workshop will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 7 to 9 July 2026. It will focus on improving cooperation across transboundary river basins, reflecting the work of SANWATCE partners in the Incomati, Limpopo, Zambezi, and Orange-Senqu basins, and responding to recent floods in Mozambique.
The Workshop will bring together ACEWATER III partners, the Regional Centres of Excellence and regional institutions to advance capacity development, strengthen alignment across the thematic components and identify innovation and youth engagement pathways ahead of the ArcX Forum to be held at the end of 2026.
ABOUT THE ARCX PROGRAMME
The Africa Regional Centres of Excellence (ArcX) programme is an innovative initiative advancing sustainable development in Africa through Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). Launched in 2023, ArcX strengthens collaboration between African and European institutions, fostering inclusive green growth and supporting Africa’s transformative agenda in key areas: Agroecology, Biodiversity & Forests, Water, Ocean and Climate Change Resilience.

- Facilitate the co-design of frameworks to promote science-policy-practice collaborations.
- Develop actionable solutions while identifying innovation and youth engagement pathways for the upcoming ArcX Forum.
